Services
Counselling for individuals, couples, families and groups, and supervision for practitioners.
Individual therapy
At times, life can get difficult and we may turn to family, friends or colleagues for support. We can also turn to counselling.
Individual counselling is a personal opportunity to receive support and experience growth during challenging times. It can help with many parts of life, such as trauma, grief and loss, anger, depression, anxiety, substance abuse, marriage and relationship challenges, parenting problems, school difficulties and career changes.
I provide a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space to talk through your issues. I listen intently and offer a gentle approach of empathy and compassion, knowing that your journey is unique to you.
Couples therapy
If you are having relationship difficulties, couples therapy can help you rebuild your relationship. Sessions often focus on improving problem-solving, building communication skills, and identifying life goals and relationship responsibilities. Other common issues include infidelity, anger, financial problems, illness and other life changes.
The benefits include less relationship distress and more relationship satisfaction, so that you and your partner are happier together.
Group therapy
In group therapy you are with people who are dealing with the same or similar issues. That shared understanding nurtures trust and makes judgement far less likely, and sharing your feelings with the group can help relieve pain and stress.
- It helps you realise you’re not alone.
- It lets you give and receive support.
- It gives you a voice.
- It helps you relate to others, and yourself, in healthier ways.
- It can provide a safety net and a sense of belonging.
Group sessions can be arranged on request.
Clinical supervision
Counselling can be stressful, particularly when clients disclose highly sensitive and distressing information. Supervisors help counsellors process difficult material, notice the early signs of stress and burnout, and step in with support before practitioners become over-involved.
Supervision is an ongoing process of professional learning and development. It lets practitioners reflect on and develop their knowledge, skills and competence through regular support from another professional. It can be one-to-one, in small peer groups, or practical on-the-job guidance.
The benefits include better client outcomes, a stronger ability to monitor ethical practice, and improved counselling skills. As a Registered ACA Clinical Supervisor, I offer supervision for counsellors, case workers and other mental health workers.
